Alex Bear, MS
Wellness Coordinator
Alex has been working in the field of health and wellness since 2013. He began his career as a personal trainer and Yoga instructor in Florida and moved to western North Carolina in 2015 to serve as a wilderness guide. He worked for two years as a guide, primarily leading and developing Rites of Passage programming for wilderness therapy companies in WNC. Inspired by his own health struggles, Alex moved to Portland, OR to study functional nutrition. As a student, he taught community culinary and nutrition education classes through his university and a local food bank. He also provided nutrition counseling services to patients in a primary care clinic. Upon graduating, Alex made his way back to WNC and served as a field instructor for Momentum before starting the role of Nutrition & Wellness Specialist. He now inspires Momentum students to grow, cook, and share food by teaching them organic gardening techniques, culinary skills, and providing a space to learn how food can be used to promote a healthy lifestyle. Outside of work at Momentum, Alex spends most of his time growing organic produce, caring for dogs and chickens, playing in the beautiful mountains and waters of WNC, and building a nutrition education and health coaching business with his partner. Alex is greatly inspired by the hard work of Momentum students and finds great purpose in helping them on their healing journeys.
