Charlotte Christensen, MS
Nutrition & Wellness Specialist
Charlotte joined the Trails Momentum team as a health-supportive culinary expert. Overseeing our kitchen as the Nutrition & Wellness Specialist, Charlotte loves all things food and focuses on the connection between what we eat, how we feel and then ultimately heal our bodies. She prepares wholesome, scratch-cooked foods that are rooted in Food as Medicine concepts. Charlotte first started plugging into her local food system in 2010 when she interned at the Cornell Cooperative Extension in upstate NY, which set the tone for her career. Since then she has studied biology, ecology, organic agriculture, and holistic healing. She has a wide array of experience in the food industry, from teaching healthy cooking classes for youths and adults, to planning and coordinating events for health food stores. Charlotte eventually went on to start her own nutrition counseling business and earn her Master’s Degree in Functional Nutrition from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Her background in Farm-to-Table concepts, menu & recipe development, kitchen management, and her extensive knowledge in functional nutrition make her the perfect fit for Trails Momentum. Here she gets to teach healthy living classes & culinary lessons to equip young adults with the skills and tools they need to carry on nutritional living practices beyond graduation. Charlotte continues to strengthen the “Farm-to-Institution” model for Trails Momentum by partnering with local farms and even working to build our own small farm on-site. All while serving up flavorful, therapeutic meals that are meant to support mental and physical well-being. Outside of work, Charlotte spends her time hiking, sampling local cuisine, batch-cooking, and hosting dinner parties.
