Our instructors work closely alongside young adults, 18-25 years old. They work to help develop healthy coping skills, build on their life skills, and develop their independence. What makes this work even more amazing is that it happens as the students participate in challenge-by-choice outdoor recreation such as hiking, weekend backpacking, indoor/outdoor rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and white-water rafting.
We believe that our combination of adventure programming with a life-skills focused base camp component that allows students to earn college credits helps to get these young adults on the right path
For the first two years I was working with adolescents 10-17yrs old going on extended backpacking expeditions and helping them navigate and understand their negative coping skills and replace them with healthy ones. Now, four years later, I am still finding myself stoked to come to work everyday and enjoy training and working with Field Instructors so that they can experience the same bliss that I have here at work. For me, there is nothing better than working with troubled young people and helping them get the help they need to pursue a happy and healthy life.
