- My Child Struggles With Creating Success In College
My child struggles with creating success in college…
College is a pivotal time for young adults. For many, it is their first big test of personal accountability and a chance for true independence away from their parents. Though in order to grow, some students need specific coaching for scheduling, time management, developing their own work/life structure, and more. While that isn’t always fostered in the traditional k-12 education system, it is something that can be mastered with guidance. Success in college for young adults is the culmination of being able to apply discipline, motivation, and accountability to be able to complete assignments, attend help sessions when they don’t have a firm grasp on the material, and prepare for examinations. Trails Momentum is a program geared specifically toward young adults that have the ability and desire to succeed but haven’t found the right structure to meaningfully achieve their expectations. By using more functional, real-world instruction, the program helps connect the dots for young adults to understand themselves, their responsibilities, and goal planning.
Outdoor Based Adventure Therapy Creates Change
At Trails Momentum, we utilize adventure-based wilderness therapy to help young adults build essential life skills and self-confidence. This starts our clients down a path of personal accountability and discipline – the building blocks for a successful college experience and transition into the workforce. For each adventure activity that students engage in, they are taught from the “ground up” the fundamental skill set associated with each activity. These skills help increase their efficacy outdoors and allow them to continue to engage in healthy outdoor pursuits after they transition from the program. Some basic tasks in effective communication, leadership, and teamwork can lead to therapeutic realizations that can help give your child the tools and confidence they need to create their own success at college. By giving them the tools to recognize and modify non-constructive behaviors, they will have the ability to effectively become the person they want to be.
