Why Trails Momentum
- Why Trails Momentum
Trails Momentum was created to serve young adults with anxiety, depression, technological dependence, and other issues by helping them transition to independence, increase their confidence, and find new direction.
We help our students acquire new skills that will help them achieve success academically, in their personal relationships, and in other areas of life. Along the way, they’ll learn to engage with their environment, strengthen their sense of self, set goals for themselves, and be independent.
Tucked into the picturesque mountains of western Carolina, our 800 acre base camp features its own mountain lake and is near thriving Asheville. The Blue Ridge Mountains offer plenty to explore, from hundreds of waterfalls to beautiful seasons, hiking, paddling, climbing, and more.
Transitioning between base camp and the field offers students the ability to practice real life change in a supportive environment. While at Sky Valley, students reside with staff in one of the houses on campus. Students participate in daily seminars on interpersonal communication and leadership as well as backcountry skills and techniques. This makes Trails Momentum a unique young adult adventure and wilderness therapy program on the east coast.
New possibilities at Trails Momentum….
It wasn’t that long ago they stepped onto Trails Momentum’s base camp. They said they didn’t want to join, but deep down they knew they weren’t happy. Scanning social media while aimlessly watching shows on their computer between a job they didn’t like…it was all pretty empty.
Now here they are getting ready to leave Trails Momentum for the last time and their friend is sharing a favorite memory from one of their first weeks together. This friend is someone they wouldn’t have given the time of day to in the past and now they worry that distance might mean this is the last time they see one another.
You are only a few feet away and are finishing a conversation with a staff member, your son or daughter turns to you and says…
Make this your son or daughter’s story.
